Abbie and I went to Asheville, NC for a couple of days to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. We visited the Biltmore house to see the Christmas decorations. This map shows the drive we took to get there. It is ~40 miles in a straight line and we drove a little more than 74 miles to get there.

We went to the winery on Saturday. This is the old dairy farm.

Abbie likes the taste of wine but I don't care for it much at all. After the third sample of various wines I surrendered my glass.

Here are some pictures of the Biltmore house. The first is from the scenic overlook next to the parking lot. The second one is a little closer and the last one is of Abbie standing next to the main entrance. The craftsmanship is amazing. They do not allow indoor photography so all I have are pictures from outside.

They took your picture inside and then charged an obnoxious amount for it at the end of the tour. Abbie gladly purchased it. Please enjoy this picture.

I enjoyed looking at the stone carvings. Some of them are very whimsical. I need to look at more of these the next time we go. They are so numerous that I tended to not concentrate on many of them in particular.
