October 19, 2008 We went to Sky Top Orchard today to pick some apples. It is located in North Carolina close to Hendersonville. A cool front came in and the weather was beautiful. The van thermometer indicated  56 deg at the orchard. This map shows where the orchard is and the yellow line shows the path we took to get there, It is 38.5 miles from our house to the orchard. On the way home, we stopped at Aunt Sue's for dinner and some ice cream.

This apple orchard is in a very pretty location. You can see many mountains and the fall color is just beginning.

Ashley has found a prime Rome apple. This baby may just end up in an apple pie.

Krista found that climbing in the tree was helpful in getting to the best selection of apples.

In the end, we found that family teamwork was the best method. This worked great for quickly collecting some of the nice apples from the upper sections of the tree.

Ashley and Krista are showing off our basket of apples. They ate several apples while we were picking. They tried a variety of flavors.

This was a nice relaxing family outing. The girls enjoyed getting out on a Sunday afternoon.
